If You're Not Dead You're Not Done
Husband - Father - Grandfather - Musician - Pastor Crisis Care Dad - Podcaster
I'm one of those "jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none" kind of guys. I started out as a musician then transitioned into a worship pastor and then became a full-on pastor. But I jump ahead of myself...
Sheila and I have been married for 40 years. We have 3 boys, 2 daughter-in-laws and 4 grandchildren. (The most amazing grandkids on the planet I might add.)
In 1989 we sensed the call of God to South Africa. We agreed to come for 2 years, which turned into 3 and then 4 and well... we are still here 30 years later. We love this country and feel like we have received much more from South Africa then South Africa has ever received from us!
1989 - 1997 I worked with Youth for Christ in Durban.
1997 - 2007 I was the Worship Pastor at Westville Baptist Church.
2007 - 2020 I served as Creative Arts Director and then Campus Pastor at Grace Family Church.
In 2020 I retired from occupational church ministry.
In 2013 Sheila and I started the La Lucia Baby House which continues into retirement. We are crisis parents to 6 small abandoned babies. They stay with us until they are either reunited with family or adopted into loving permanent homes. To date we have cared for 54 beautiful little lives. The La Lucia Baby House is a registered NPO and PBO in South Africa.
Skip and Sheila are passionate about the orphan crisis in South Africa which is why they started the Baby House. Up to six orphaned babies are cared for in their home while they work to find permanent families.
